| This section is still
heavily influenced by the original theme of the site, that is anime Super
Robots: links and references suggested below keep a special eye on this
subject, resulting in an unbalanced, biased choice of sites.
As SA3D will transform into a true anime site, this situation will change
accordingly. To my surprise (the great revival of Japanese animation, at least
in my country, and the increasing number of people practising worldwide 3D
modelling led me to incorrect expectations), surfing the Web I came across very
few sites with 3D galleries featuring the first breed of Super Robots
(Grendizer, Jeeg etcetera): probably characters born a quarter of century ago
(ugh!) haven't rooted in the imagination of today's 3D artists, who belong to
an age overwhelmed by an incredible plenty of anime productions and have little
time (or probably no chance at all) to look back to what may be considered the
"classics" of the genre. A totally different
situation exists for Gundam: many sites filled up of good graphic stuff are
available, some of which containing really explosive pictures. The only problem
is that often are Japanese-only sites, definitely hardly accessible to western
visitors: I got to some of the following URLs with a little of intuition. |

| Despite the name, a site
opened to suggestions coming also from subjects belonging to different
countries of the cartoon and comics universe beyond the pure anime
subjects. The Super Robot theme represents anyway the main
course, with a good number of quality pictures already present and,
trusting the site owner, many more yet to come. Very appreciable the breadth
and variety of aspects of computer graphics treated: topics covered range from
questions concerning 2D images processing to specific case studies carried out
with the most popular 3D softwares. |

| The real forerunner of this
site and, from my point of view, a spur to get the work done quickly (a healthy
competition is essential to give the best). Here you'll find many
fine renderings of several Super Robots models made by the site owner along
with varied material concerning the more specific broadcasting history of the
cartoons: a special mention goes to a tutorial section, constantly updated with
interesting, originally exposed stuff. Quite nice also the idea to
institute a chart of the most favorite Robots collecting the direct
vote of the visitors. |

| Links suggested in
this section should be more properly regarded, in most cases, as real rings:
sometimes they offer more than the usual environment of a ring, for they
provide a more effective glue (in terms of search facilities,
points of aggregation, services for information exchange and so on) to make the
single affiliate feel as part of a community of like interests and
tastes. Besides, sites like the following are often the
results of the titanic efforts of single individuals and, for this reasons
only, should be already kept in special consideration. |

Anime 100 www.anime100.com Anime 100 is truly a well balanced combination between a chart and a resource site: it's not by chance that this site is mentioned in the Charts and Contestssection of SA3D. You can look for sites by subject with an easy-to-use and essential search engine or you can browse the rank and enjoy the anime/manga universe from a lot of perspectives. |
